Orville Kelvin “Bum” Post opened the store in 1936. At that time, Fort Lowell was a dirt road and the surrounding area was farm and ranch land settled by the Binghamton Community of Mormons. Though the Post Family has not owned the store since 1973, OK Feed & Supply has remained a locally and family-owned business that continues to evolve to meet the needs of its customers. As rural living in the area decreased, OK Feed began stocking holistic and high-quality feed, not only for livestock but for pets as well. At that time, most people were content to feed grocery store brands with low-quality ingredients. OK Feed set itself apart by providing premium, independent, holistic brands not available elsewhere and nutritional training to its employees. This gave birth to a passion to provide customers with exceptional nutrition and advice and the Tucson pet store you know today.

You won’t find most of the brands that “big box” stores sell in our store and that is 100% intentional. We stock products that our staff believe in. We fully research and vet how, where, and who the products are made by. Not too many Tucson pet stores can say the same. We’re not a big box corporate store selling products that may or may not be healthy for your animals. Smokey
Store Mascot & Brand Ambassador Joined 1973-ish
Smokey is a fiberglass horse infused with a ton of history. He started out on display inside the store until the 1980’s when the owner moved him to the roof. Since then, Smokey has changed colors several times, been stolen a few times, been roped off the roof, and been the subject of multiple news stories. Smokey has become the store mascot and an unintentional guidepost. He enjoys standing still. Sporting a facemask during fly season, and celebrating holidays.
